Uçhisar – Bağlıdere – Bağyolu – Göreme

Characteristics of the Route:

The route, which starts in Uchisar Castle, a huge fairy chimney that served as a castle in the Roman period with wide tunnels and chambers, follows the old structures of the town and descends to Akvadi. With its white intricate formations, Baglidere (Akvadi) with a green scenery excites people as if passing through the gates of a different world. When you see the incredibly high fairy chimneys on the route, you will realize that you have reached the Love Valley, which has hosted many important organizations. Leaving the incredibly pleasant valley and going on the dirt track with a magnificent view, the route ends in Goreme, a town built in the land of fairy chimneys.

Notes to Travelers:

If you start hiking at sunrise, you can walk with hot air balloons above you. 

If you are hiking in autumn, you can taste the delicious apples, quince, and grapes growing in the valley.

At the end of the route, you can visit the Goreme Open Air Museum, an old monastery. There is an entry fee to the museum and the museum card is valid.

There is an entry fee to Uchisar Castle, the museum card is not valid.

Make sure your water bottle is full as you won't find water on the route.

If you are hiking in early spring, you can see Muscari tenuiflorum (Puskullubas), which blooms from April to the end of July, and Moltkia coerulea (Mavi kesen), which blooms in April-June.

You can find beverages suitable to your taste such as tea, coffee, and fruit juice in the modest cafe you will see in the valley.

You can use the water, toilet, shower, and facilities in campsites, which also have a modest swimming pool. Many camps also provide kitchen services.
