İbrahimpaşa - Ortahisar
Characteristics of the Route:
The route starts from Babayan, the old name of Ibrahimpasa, which has preserved its traditional buildings and goes towards waterways in the Balkan creek after crossing the bridge that offers a nostalgic view. Sheltered valleys with water are of vital importance for Cappadocians, who experience harsh winters. In these valleys, it is necessary to ensure that the water flows to grow vegetables and to protect the soil from the flowing snow waters in winter. The waterways on the route have fulfilled this vital task throughout history and helped the life nourish in the valley for hundreds of years. The route follows these old and worn-out waterways, passes through short tunnels, visits the Balkan Church with the breezes of heaven, passes through the valley with fresh air, and ends at Ortahisar Castle, one of the three biggest castles of Cappadocia.
