Notes to Travelers:
If you start cycling at sunrise, you can ride with hot air balloons above you.
You can visit the Seljuk Mosque in Cavusin Town, the charming "historical house" on the cobblestone road that goes up by the mosque, and St. John the Baptist Chapel (Aziz Yahya Kilisesi), which you will reach after a few minutes' walk at the end of the road. You can have pleasant moments on the plateau above St. John the Baptist Chapel, which offers wonderful photos with its impressive view.
You can visit Devrent Valley on the route, free of charge.
You can try delicious menus of restaurants with different styles in Urgup and Cavusin.
You can find beverages suitable to your taste such as tea, coffee, and fruit juice in cafes you will see throughout the route.
There is an entry fee to Zelve Open Air Museum and Pasabaglari Archeological Site; both can be visited with a single ticket. The museum card is valid at archeological sites.
The route passes by grocery stores and markets where you can find water frequently.
You can visit Kilicaslan Gazi Tomb on Temenni Tepesi and enjoy the view at the cafe next to it.
You may need a bicycle lock while visiting the archeological sites.
Characteristics of the Route:
The route starts in Goreme, the settlement in fairy chimneys on UNESCO World Heritage List, goes up the steep and short slope, and continues on the ridge of Akvadi. The route follows the valleys lined up on the skirts of Bozdag and reaches Cavusin, the town of mysteries. After visiting the town, it follows dirt roads and reaches Pasabagi Archeological Site. Zelve Open Air Museum, an old Ottoman village carved into the red valley, awaits its visitors. The route reaches Devrent Valley with sculptures shaped by nature following the asphalt road, goes to dirt roads for a while, and turns back to the asphalt road. After following the asphalt road for a short time, it ends in Urgup, the old commercial center of Cappadocia.
