Avanos - Özkonak

Characteristics of the Route:

The route starts in Avanos, a settlement near Turkey's longest river and has been shaping the clay of the river for thousands of years, with a smooth ramp.In the soft climate thanks to Kizilirmak, it goes through the fields in the fragrant countryside.The route follows comfortable wide roads and ends in Ozkonak Underground City, one of the shelters given its final shape by the people fleeing the Arab-Sassanid invasion that intensified in the 7th century.

Keep your bicycle bottle and a spare water bottle full as there is no opportunity to find water on the route.

There is an entry fee to Ozkonak Underground City and the museum card is not valid.

You may need a bicycle lock if you take a break for sightseeing in Avanos and Ozkonak.
